Afternoon light


After a 5K this weekend, I found myself faced not with the usual bananas and water, but with jambalaya, hot wings, fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and… just a lot of delicious food. The love for food and company here continues to delight me.

In healing, I have come to one startling realization: I don’t know myself. I don’t know who I am anymore, or even who to trust. There is only one person, and that is me. No more pretending.

On this side of the hemisphere, in this particular harbour city blessed with numerous beaches, all with easy access, the people are ready for summer. It’s hard to ignore the signs: warmer mornings, longer days, ocean breezes that no longer send chills down the spine. Even though everything isn’t perfect, it’s easy to forget that we are lucky to live here in a city so welcoming, so forgiving.
